  • GTA 6 Region Locks Highlight Ongoing PSN Infrastructure Concerns

With GTA 6 set to launch later this year, excitement is at an all-time high. This has reignited concerns about one of PlayStation’s longest-running issues: the limited availability of the PlayStation Network (PSN) across many regions.

While most players in supported countries won’t encounter any problems, gamers in unsupported regions could face additional hurdles when trying to access Rockstar’s biggest release yet.

GTA 6 Physical Copies Are Region Locked

Unlike traditional physical releases, GTA 6 includes a redeemable digital code inside the box. That code is region locked, meaning players must redeem it using a PlayStation Network account from the same supported region where the game was purchased.

For gamers in countries where PSN isn’t officially supported, this creates an extra hurdle. Many players have historically worked around the limitation by creating PSN accounts tied to nearby supported countries, but it’s never been an officially supported solution.

These are the countries where you will be able to redeem a GTA 6 digital code. And remember, in Japan, these will only be valid for 170 days.

For players in unsupported regions, the situation once again highlights the limitations of Sony’s global PSN infrastructure.
