Sony continues to support physical games for now. Ghost of Yotei fans will be able to pick up the newly announced Complete Edition on a physical disc.
The release will bundle Sucker Punch’s open-world samurai adventure with its new Echoes of Sekigahara expansion and additional content. The team designed the box art to match Ghost of Tsushima’s Definitive Edition, creating a consistent set for collectors.
However, we are already concerned about what will actually be included on the disc.
The Expansion May Require a Download
The physical box for Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition includes a disclaimer. It notes Echoes of Sekigahara will be available via patch version 2.0 or later. The disclaimer lets users download the content only with an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
The wording makes it seem that the Blu-ray disc might not contain the new expansion. We anticipate the base game will be on disc, but players may still need to download the additional content separately.

This has understandably caught the attention of game preservation advocates, particularly as physical releases become increasingly dependent on online downloads.
Still Good News for Physical Collectors
There could be a practical reason for the expansion being download-only. Ghost of Yotei is already a large game, and adding an entire expansion could create significant storage requirements for a Blu-ray release.
Collectors are likely to welcome a physical release of the Complete Edition. With growing concerns surrounding the future of disc-based games, having a boxed version of Ghost of Yotei available is becoming increasingly valuable.
For now, the exact contents of the disc remain unclear. But if the expansion is indeed download-only, it could become another example of why physical ownership doesn’t always mean having the complete game preserved on the disc.
