PlayStation fans may not have to wait too much longer to get their hands on God of War Laufey, as a new report suggests Sony is aiming to launch the highly anticipated title during the first half of 2027.
The information comes from industry insider NateTheHate, who correctly leaked the existence of the game before its reveal at PlayStation’s June State of Play.
According to the insider, the project was targeting an early 2027 release window, although they stressed that plans can change and nothing is currently set in stone.
The report surfaced after fans asked whether the newly announced game could arrive within the next year. While the suggested timeframe has generated excitement, development schedules are always subject to change, especially for large-scale first-party releases.
The insider also commented on Until Dawn 2, stating that it could potentially release around the same period, though timelines remain flexible at this stage.
God of War Laufey was one of the biggest surprises from Sony’s recent State of Play presentation, with the game appearing to explore new areas of the franchise while expanding on the Norse mythology saga.
Although official details remain limited, anticipation is already high among PlayStation fans eager to see where the series goes next.
If the reported release target holds, 2027 could be a major year for PlayStation. Alongside God of War Laufey, questions remain about when Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will launch and whether Sony could be positioning some of its biggest projects around the arrival of future hardware.
For now, Sony has yet to confirm a release date, but the possibility of returning to the God of War universe as early as next year is sure to keep fans watching closely for updates.
