Today was originally supposed to be the day. In some alternate timeline somewhere, players are probably already speeding through Vice City, causing absolute chaos online, and discovering the first wave of GTA 6 secrets. Instead, here in reality, we’re still waiting.
Grand Theft Auto VI was originally planned to launch on May 26 before Rockstar eventually delayed the game to November 19, 2026. And honestly, the weirdest part about all of this is that we still haven’t properly seen the game again in over a year.
That’s what’s making the wait feel so surreal now.
It’s hard to believe that it’s now been 13 years since Grand Theft Auto V first launched.
Sure, Rockstar kept busy with Red Dead Redemption 2 and the endless success of GTA Online, but GTA 6 has reached a level of anticipation that honestly feels bigger than gaming itself at this point.
Rockstar confirmed that marketing for the game will properly begin this summer, which means we’re probably finally getting closer to gameplay reveals, deeper story details, and maybe even our first proper look at how the world actually plays.
The launch of GTA 5 completely dominated entertainment for years, and expectations for GTA 6 somehow feel even larger now. If Rockstar lands this properly, it could easily become the biggest gaming launch we’ve ever seen.
The silence around GTA 6 has become so intense that expectations are starting to feel almost impossible to meet and still, after waiting this long, another few months probably won’t kill us.
Probably.
Anyways, do you think Rockstar can realistically live up to the insane expectations surrounding this game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
