  • Guaranteed Xbox Game Pass Price Drop Sparks a Heated Debate: Will PS Plus Still be Worth It?

According to [source news.xbox.com], Microsoft has officially reduced the price of Xbox Game Pass, and it’s already raising questions about the value of PlayStation Plus.

At a time when most subscription services are getting more expensive, this decision stands out.

    The price cuts are significant:

    • Game Pass Ultimate drops from $29.99 to $22.99
    • PC Game Pass falls from $16.49 to $13.99

This puts Xbox’s top-tier subscription much closer to Sony’s PS Plus Premium, which currently sits at $17.99 per month.

While Xbox isn’t dramatically undercutting PlayStation, the gap is now small enough to make comparisons unavoidable.

However, there is an important trade-off here…

The lower prices come after Call of Duty was removed as a day-one release from Game Pass. Including such a massive franchise played a big role in driving up the service cost.

Now, under new leadership, Xbox appears to be shifting their strategy — focusing on affordability over blockbuster hits.

This move puts subtle pressure on PlayStation.

While PS Plus still offers strong value, especially through its Game Catalog, Xbox’s pricing change makes Game Pass more appealing to budget-conscious players.

The real question is whether Sony will respond — or stick to its current pricing model. Would you take a cheaper subscription without big day-one releases, or stick with what PlayStation offers?
